  • Successfully launched the product design function for the Office of Product and Program Innovation, including finding, hiring, onboarding, and training the first 13 people within 6 months.

  • Over the next year, grew the team to 11 UX designers, 4 UX writers, 6 learning experience designers, 2 graphic design and communication specialists, and a design ops manager.

  • Managed an annual budget of approximately $4m, including vendor and contractor management, tools and software, and team training and development

  • Worked closely with AI thought-leaders at Google, provided complete front-end design work for the Google/SNHU next generation learning experience

  • Using agile methodologies, coordinated delivery and implementation of designs to multiple international development teams, including QA follow up to ensure the accurate execution of design vision and end-user experiences

  • Served as initiative lead and Product Owner for the first major greenfield software release, an end-to-end learning experience and platform serving both students and staff and testing new ways of increasing engagement and delight in online learning

  • Piloted new ways of working, using storytelling to build a common product and experience vision among stakeholders, vendors, the product team, and end users. Socialized learnings at UXPA2023.

  • Collaborated closely with the research team to advocate for user and data-centered decision-making and iteration

  • Identified and articulated pain points and opportunities within existing experiences and journeys, defined and prototyped new experiences that reflected a deep understanding of human-centered design and end-user needs

  • Led in the creation of strategy artifacts, including multiple product storyboards, interactive graphics explaining ecosystem architecture, and interactive presentations, in addition to design artifacts ranging from low fidelity mock-ups to iterative prototypes and journey maps, to convey complex, disruptive concepts to audiences such as the university leadership, board, and development partner Google.

  • Established a training program to ensure the ongoing development of the larger team and continuous improvements of existing processes.

  • Worked on a small startup team to develop a microcredentialing strategy for the University in collaboration with administration, staff, and leadership.

  • Conducted user interviews with experts across the industry to gain insight into how microcredentialing and badging were applied in different contexts.

  • Lead in concept development and creation of a comprehensive market strategy for microcredentials by analyzing signals, demand, and user needs, nationwide skills gaps, and the competitive landscape. Identified an addressable market of working adults who desired or needed upskilling but did not have resources for a degree, co-authored a go-to-market strategy with a cross-disciplinary team.

  • Employed design thinking and creative leadership to engage the team in ideation cycles, prototyping, learner empathy research, and user experience research.

  • Supported adjacent research initiatives in the broader innovation center, facilitating design thinking processes and working with stakeholders to seek out and define design problems.

  • Socialized insights, findings, and concepts to University leadership, external partners, and to faculty and staff broadly, presenting strategic insights around microcredentials to national and professional associations.

  • Collaborated with administration, industry, and faculty to design, implement, and support a holistic plan to promote improved student experiences, success, and innovative curricular development as part of the President’s cabinet;

  • Managed the Library and Special Collections, Academic Technology, Academic Support, Disability Services, and Career Services, oversaw staff, fiscal resources, and critical initiatives in these areas;

  • Led user and market research into new opportunities and translated findings into design specifications for new certificate experiences, animation, graphic novel, and UX courses, undergraduate UX programs and graduate certificates, and new markets for the college in related areas.

  • Managed the design, development, accreditation, and launch of new UX degree programming in partnership with the faculty and college leadership.

  • Drove the development of the college’s three-year strategic plan with the Board of Trustees, focused on improving student experiences and outcomes.

  • Evaluated existing processes and designed new workflows for college staff, implemented new flows and software processes which created significant efficiencies in retention tracking and reporting and helped increase first-year retention from 60% to 75% in just four years.

  • Partnered with administration and faculty to develop a culture of assessment around the design, tracking, and use of key performance indicators to generate continuous improvement in curriculum design.

  • Oversaw the effectiveness of academic programs and student success efforts, particularly in the areas of first-year learning and retention, professional practice, and academic support.

  • Organized ongoing faculty development in support of student success, responding to student feedback, data and key metrics, and evaluation results. Among results of these efforts were an increased focus on internship and career training, resulting in a new professional practices curriculum and internship function, increasing internship rates over 330% in three years.
